John Chinn Artist Statement (For the moment)

I have no idea what the right thing to say as an “Artist Statement” should be.

I try to set up situations that I can use to find inspiration and get me working.

Going for a drive with or without a camera is one way.

A good conversation over a meal or a cup of coffee can be inspirational.

Reading something good.

Watching a good movie, or a good “bad” movie.

Looking at other artists’ work really get’s me motivated.

The “odd” or “accidental” statement/object that I stumble upon has value.

Usually, I play a game of looking around and waiting for something to catch my eye.

I like to think that the idea finds me. Then I try to make something that says, “That’s it.”
